Muir
Heritage Land Trust Welcomes
Linus
Eukel As New Executive Director
As a friend
and supporter of the Muir Heritage Land Trust, I want to share the
good news with you, that Linus Eukel has been named the Muir Heritage
Land Trust’s new Executive Director. I have been given the
honor to serve the organization as Board Chair for the last two
years and couldn’t be happier with the decision to bring Linus
into the Muir Heritage Land Trust as the new Executive Director
to lead us into the next chapter of our organizational growth.
As you may know,
Founding Executive Director Tina Batt formally stepped down this
January in order to pursue numerous opportunities available to her
upon graduation from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of
Government in the spring. Mr. Eukel became familiar with the work
of land trusts under the guidance of Tina who strongly endorses
him as her successor. Linus, who begins his new position in March,
comes to us with significant experience in the public and nonprofit
sectors, including with the Muir Heritage Land Trust where he has
previously served as Director of Development and Communications
from 2004-2006 and as Acting Executive Director from 2006 to January
2007. Upon being nominated, Mr. Eukel said he “realizes the
importance of this position and considers it a privilege to be able
to serve the organization and local community.” As the new
Executive Director, Mr. Eukel will continue to work closely with
the Muir Heritage Land Trust Board of Directors and staff with respect
to managing change and growth, strategic planning, individual contributed
income development, board and donor cultivation, land acquisition,
land use planning, stewardship, and public education activities.
His position oversees assets of $7 million, and provides vision
and leadership to ensure that the Muir Heritage Land Trust achieves
its ongoing mission, implements balanced annual operating budgets,
and meets its goals for fundraising, financial stability, public
visibility and long-range planning.
Mr. Eukel is
a native of Walnut Creek, where he currently resides with his wife
Stephanie and their daughter Olivia. He was educated in the Walnut
Creek public school system, is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley with
an A.B. in music, and holds a Master of Music degree from the University
of New York.
With a proven
background in leadership and a strong commitment to Contra Costa’s
natural resources, Linus is sure to provide invaluable vision for
the future of conservation in our community. The board and staff
of the Muir Heritage Land Trust hope you will join us in offering
Linus a warm welcome as the new Executive Director of our organization.
Sincerely
Mark
Wilson,
Board
Chair
